This manual was created in order to help you understand the FC2 Counter a little better. Use this manual when you have some questions. If your concerns cannot be cleared out with this, please contact us from here.
About FC2 Counter
- About [Access Counter] and [Online Counter]

>FC2 Counter is an absolutely free service.
There are two types of counters, [Access Counter] and [Online Counter]. The counters are used to keep track of visitors on your blog or homepage.- *Access Counter
- [Access Counter] is a counter that counts the number of visitors. In addition to knowing how many people have visited your blog, it also shows a 30 day graph to show the number of visitors that visited your blog in that period.
- *Online Counter
- [Online Counter] is a counter that allows you to check how many people are visiting your blog. (*If you set your counter only an Online Counter, it can not calculate the total number of visitors.)
1. Let's Sign up for FC2 Counter

- For the first-time FC2 service users:

Click on "FC2 Registration" button on upper left of the page, then acquire FC2ID which enables you to use all the free services provided by FC2.

- For already registered FC2 services users:
-
Please enter your FC2ID e-mail address and password in the space provided and login.

- *What is FC2ID?*
-
FC2ID is an account that you will need to get in order to use all services provided by FC2. It lets you have an overall control and management of all FC2 services.(Registration to each service is necessary.)Just add what you would like to enjoy with "Add This Service" and fill out simple information. Please visit FC2ID Manual for details.

Add Services (FC2 Counter registration)
Please enter your FC2ID e-mail address and password to login.

Once you login to FC2ID, click on [Add Services] from the menu list on the left.

Find the [FC2 Counter] service from the service list then click on [Add this service].
Done! (After you add the service, it will take you to the FC2 Counter management page.)
2. Let’s Set up FC2 Counter

Please enter your FC2ID e-mail address and password to login.

When you login to the management page, it will show a screen like the image displayed below.
Click on each counter's name and it will take you to the counter settings for the counter.
※This image shows when you are using multiple counters.
- If you would like to install in your homepage

Copy the counter's HTML tag
1. Login, and click on [Counter Tags] from the menu on the left.

2. Select the tag that is displayed and right click on your mouse to copy the tag.

3.Go to your homepage's HTML file then paste the copied counter tag on your HTML's body section.
(Anywhere you like within <body> and </body> section.)- * Example *

4. Check if the counter successfully appears on your homepage.

※If it does not appear, check if necessary tags are pasted,
please go back to your HTML file to make sure that the copied tag was pasted within the <body> </body> section.
- Installing one to FC2 Blog

If you have a FC2 Blog
FC2 Counter can easily be set up by using the plugin settings.
※FC2 Blog can only add on plugins for counters. For any counter modification in the settings, you will have to go to the FC2 Counter's management page.- Login to FC2 Blog.
Click on [[Plugin Settings] from the menu list on the left. - Make sure your current template supports the plugin of your choice.
※If your template does not support plugins, you cannot add the counter to your blog. Please choose latest templates from "Templates" on the menu leftside, see if it is available. - Click on [Add FC2 plugins].
- Find [FC2 Counter] then click on [Add].
- After inputing all fields, select [Access Counter] or [Online Counter] then click on [Change].
※In case you would like to add both of them, you will need to add two plugins.

When you use FC2 Blog's"Free Area" plugin
If you are currently using template-supported plugins, you can also easily add counters and other blog plugins to the free area.
[Add Free Area]
Please click on "Add Plugins" in the middle of the plugin setting page, then add the free area (Name can be changed, also you can assign a category to it.)
If you are currently using "Free Area", you can alter setting from "Change Setting" located at the right of the plugin setting page.
With regard to the place to install, please assign a category you want to. Also please make use of arrows ("↑" and "↓") to place the plugin. - Login to FC2 Blog.
3. Let’s Take a Look at the Access Statistics

To see the access statistics
Click on [Current Counter] in the FC2 Counter management page.
After the counter's installation, the access statistics will start counting.
(※After set up, it might take a little while for it to show up.)
- Registrative Information
-
- 1:User name appears.
- 2:Counter name appears. To change the name, fill it out and then click "Setting."
- 3:Shows the starting date of analysis.
- 4:Shows the URL where the counter is installed.
- 5:Shows the image used in your access counter.
- 6:Shows the image used in your online counter.
- Access Statistic
- Shows the number of access within a day, cumulative number, 30 days basis, and a graph that shows the result of analysis.
4. Let's Give a More Detailed Setting on the Counter
- Set counter digits

Click on [Settings] from the menu list on the left.

The median can be between 2 to 10 digits.
Click on [Save All Changes] after inputting the digit.

- Set counter value

Click on [Settings] in the management page.

Change in the statistical value can be made automatically.
Click on [Save All Changes] after inputing the value. If the field is blank, it will maintain the current status. No changes will be made.
Please make use of it when you moved from the one of other companies.
If you put the number you have earned up to that moment, it will start counting from that value.
- Set duplicate counts

Click on [Setting] in the management page.

This prevents counting from the same computer more than once.
It will start re-counting after 24 hours. Select [Don't duplicate counts] then click on [Save All Changes].
Duplicate counts function is based on the IP addresses from each computer.
When you apply [Don't duplicate counts], the system will not count the visit from the same IP address (*1) twice within 24 hours(It will count the same IP address again after 24 hours.)The IP address method is more accurate than the Cookie method. This will increased the stats' accuracy from the same computer. The statistics value may be less than before, but this is normal.
(Note)
※1:An IP address is a unique address that is issued by each computer to communicate with each other on a computer network.
Mobile phones do not have the function to prevent duplicate counts. Visits from mobile phones may cause duplicate counts.
- Set show weekly counts

Click on [Settings] in the management page.

When the weekly counter is displaying, you can simply move your mouse cursor to the counter, and it will show a statistics graph for the week.
Note: Click on [Save All Changes] after you select an option.

[How to read the graph]
Units below 100 will be omitted.
"1000" will show as "K"

5600= 5 K
13000=13 K
5. Changing Image of Counters

Click on [Change Image] from the menu list on the left.

1. You can sort counter styles by [Upload Date], [Top Ranking], and [Type].

2. Select the counter style you like, then set to [Access Counter] or [Online Counter]

*What is access counter?
A counter to count the number of visit you have earned.
*What is online counter?
A counter that shows how many people are watching your website simultaneously.
6. Let's upload your design to My Counter
- How to upload to [My Counter]

Create [My Counter] images
Images must be of your own design.
Please create 0~9 images using Photoshop or other paint software.- Image size must be larger than 4x4 (px).
- With GIF file format. Only GIF file is available for upload.
- Set the background to transparent.

Upload images to [My Counter]
Let's upload images!
Click on [Upload Images] form the menu list on the left.
Having filled out all the fields below, please click on [Upload]:
- 1:Author ・・・ The author's name will automatically be inserted.
- 2:Author Webpage ・・・ Input the URL of where you want to install the counter.
- 3:Author Mail Address ・・・ The author's e-mail address will automatically be inserted.
- 4:Genre ・・・ [Personal Counter] is selected.
- 5:Image ・・・ Browse images that you want to upload into 0~9 fields. You can also align images to the left or to the right.

Then, you are done with uploading! Otsukaresama!

Click on "My Counter" from "Change Image."

The image you upload will show up. Select the image, then choose [Access Counter] or [Online Counter].
※Please refer to [How to upload to My Counter] for uploaded images.
